Aren't introductions awkward?

It's a bit hard to small talk through the screen, isn't it? Don't get me wrong, I can talk to a brick wall and make friends with the kid who would rather sit alone in the corner. But when it comes to small talk typing, I'm just not very good. So let's get right to it.

For those I haven't met yet, I'm Carrie, curator of the cards. My roots run deep in what once was a small town. Life encouraged a change of scenery, though, and I currently call another no-stoplight town home. If you ever pass the Wayne/Payne exit on I-35, you can aaaalmost see the home I share with my husband, Bailey, and our three pups, Reos, Hercules and Hayzel. We have 11 horses in the barn right now (I think?), two donkeys, and a small herd of steers.

P.S. by Carrie was born on accident. Surrounded by a brilliant, supportive group of women I've only met via Zoom and Instagram, I found myself encouraged to start something. I like to think of myself as a professional hype woman and expert card sender. So what better way to combine those things than my own curated collection.

Many moons ago, letters were the only way to inform family and friends of our life's happenings. Now, we have all the social media and instant connection we can imagine. Snail mail might not serve the same purpose, but nothing can replace the feeling of opening the mailbox to see a letter with your name handwritten on it. Heartfelt, old-school notes that arrive in small envelopes can have a huge impact.

I'm not naturally a creative; my brain is very logical and methodical. Every once in a while, though, something magical happens, and a cool idea is born. Thankfully, I have excellent, talented friends who help me bring those shining thoughts to life. As such, some of the cards you see boast art from those friends, and others are works of my own hand. Either way, I hope they catch your eye and make you think, "That looks like Sarah!" or "I need to have that for when someone I love needs a pick-me-up."

Selfishly, these cards say something I need to say... I want bold, simple, beautiful pieces to encourage, motivate, comfort, and inspire. I want them to serve as a daily reminder we are wildly capable, beautiful, beloved humans who can take on the world. Conversely, we should be able to find cards that capture our genuine heartbreak when things are tough. When our dearest friends lost their outstanding stud colt, I couldn't find the card with the right words. And, honestly, there aren't "right words" when your friend tells you she's lost her third unborn child.

If you've made it this far, thanks. Know that I appreciate you for just being here and even more for reading my "why." I’d love to get to know you, so drop me a line (or a card!), and let’s visit.
